The team works to make sure that these stories reach the media and customers across Northern Europe. We're looking for a dedicated communications professional to help run our communications and media relations for the region. The role will be based in Amsterdam and report into our Head of Communications for Northern Europe. The team is responsible for telling Uber's story to a wide range of media and external audiences across the Northern Europe region (Benelux & Nordics).Uber is about much more than getting a safe and reliable ride from A to B - we're redefining how people get around cities, think about car ownership and connect to public transport; positively impacting the daily lives of people who value independent and flexible work. Through Uber Eats we're helping people access their favorite meals, essential groceries and convenience goods, as easy as a few taps on their smartphone. What You'll Do
  • Press' office: Handle media relations across the region and engage with journalists every day. Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, in handling frequent high profile media inbounds and other requests. Tell our story in creative, inspiring ways that resonate with journalists and the general public.
  • Campaigns: Build proactive communications campaigns to educate users of our app, partners and KOL’s on Uber’s vision, positions and values relating to a broad range of topics impacting our mobility and delivery platforms, including sustainability, platform work and safety.
  • Messaging: Develop written materials including messaging, press releases, Q&As, online copy. Lead available resources for maximum impact, including working with agencies to improve our communications strategy.
Basic Qualifications
  • Dutch and English (written and spoken) proficiency is required. French proficiency would be a plus.
  • Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant field (Communications, PR, journalism, etc.).
  • 4+ years experience in a similar role (media relations, spokesperson).
Preferred Qualifications
  • A storyteller: We're looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple and credible arguments. You enjoy getting into the details and understanding an issue from all sides, so you can explain complicated topics to various audiences. You’re comfortable to find data and facts and work with specialized teams to source and verify the information you need.
  • A creative problem solver: You are able to spot trends and identify creative ways to make Uber relevant to our key audiences and are able to work cross-functionally with various teams to build and amplify ideas.
  • A teammate: Success at Uber depends on the ability to work cross-functionally and coordinate around shared goals. You’ll work closely with various teams to check the quality and consistency of the communications materials that is sent out to all users of the app (e.g. drivers, couriers, passengers, etc.). You'll be used to work thoughtfully and to prioritize tasks in a constantly evolving environment.
