About the Role

Collaborates with stakeholders within the team to build and maintain backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.

What You'll Do:

• Work on cutting edge technologies to automatically verify images and documents.
• Build large scale systems to find similarities and relationships between various entities such as users, devices, images etc.
• Integrate with 3rd parties to perform additional data validations.
• Leverage digital information, behavior signals and social networking signals to establish trust in users.
• Build verification products such as facial recognition, voice recognition, biometrics etc.
• Integrate with business systems dealing with risk, safety, and compliance

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR +5 years of total software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)

• Note the 1-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.

About the Team

Trusted Identity team is responsible for all active and passive Identity verifications done at Uber. Using different sources of truth as Liveness, Selfie, Document (Passport, Drivers License, National ID) and several third party solutions that provides us different ways to assure Identity from a person.

We are a multidisciplinar team with Web, Mobile, Machine Learning and Backend Engineers, expanding our platform to aggregate more features, reduce friction from real users and creating more defenses against fraudsters. Our responsibility starts in the very beginning of the user journey collecting information from different sources, capturing the image of document, comparing these images to different datasources or human review and making the decision.

We operate globally, across different roles: riders, drivers, restaurants and freight companies. One of the main objetives of this team is to make the environment as safer as possible, verifying if a person is under age or not, controlling different types of foods and beverages deliveries, or if the person that is picking up a car rented, is the same the reserved and paid the rental.

We are growing faster, onboarding new internal line of business but also increasing the coverage of our solutions for final users.
