About the Role

This critical role will serve as a data leader representing the Data Infrastructure and Strategy team in India, and will be responsible for building and managing a team of skilled analysts based out of the Hyderabad office.

As an Associate Manager II, the person will be tasked with managing the day-to-day sprint operations of the India team. Being in the India time zone, they will be tasked to form a deep understanding of CommOps business processes and data needs in order to independently make data decisions on behalf of Data Infrastructure and Strategy. The manager will play a key role in managing the partnership with our data engineering partners, and developing documented working processes to deliver data asks on time.

The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of SQL, solid problem-solving skills, a proven track record of managing a team, partnering with or being on Data Engineering, and a commitment to building up and leading a team long-term.

Your Impact in Role:

  • As a People Manager, build, lead, and manage a functional team of analysts in Hyderabad.
  • Craft a team vision for the India team and implementing that vision.
  • Direct and support a team of data analysts, fostering their professional growth and encouraging innovation to manage data product development and delivery.
  • Hire qualified, high-performing analysts to bolster team ranks and maintain healthy team staffing to support roadmap projects.
  • Structure and define team member roles and responsibilities.
  • Effectively problem solve and unblock team member questions and concerns.
  • Design and implement new business and technical processes to improve team efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with the data engineering partner team in the design, development, testing and implementation of enhancements and updates to CommOps data.
  • Manage the relationship with the consultant analyst team supporting our work, ensuring full integration into the team’s processes and tasks as well as the timely delivery of data asks.
  • Take independent decisions and ownership of data and analytics asks.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the current and future CommOps data infrastructure and logic, as well as the business rationale and context.
  • Be able to dive deep into the data and problem solve issues for constituents in order to unblock work processes.
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring transparent communication and alignment on data infra tasks and projects while effectively addressing their requirements and feedback.
  • Craft and lead a sprint-based agile process to ensure the team is able to function and deliver tasks on time and effectively.
  • Present to and collaborate with senior stakeholder and partner team leaders, especially in India.

The Experience You’ll Bring:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or a related STEM field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in the field of data and analytics
  • Minimum 5 years experience in people management in a fast paced matrix work environment.
  • Strong communication and people management skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior managers.
  • Proficient with advanced SQL queries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on experience performing data analyses and working on designing data pipelines and tables.
  • Proven experience in running a team of data analysts
  • Experience on a data engineering team, or closely collaborating with one.
  • Experience in running an Agile sprint process, preferably using Jira.
  • Proven experience working in cross-functional highly matrix environments with good collaboration and communication skills.
  • Growth mindset with a long-term goal of building and growing a team.
  • Ready to take on team management, coach effectively, navigate conflicting priorities, and solve complex problems.
  • Experience working in customer centric organizations
  • Experience in technical project management
